Trauma Responsive Lens for Educators

ONLINE COURSE

As an educator or administrator, it can be difficult to identify and fully understand how to support students who have potentially experienced trauma. These students may have trouble connecting with others and/or display perceived “problematic behavior.”

Our seven-week online course, led by Sarah Buffie, MSW, LSW, introduces a compassionate and informative journey into deepening your understanding and practice of trauma-responsive and healing-centered principles.

As a healing-invested educator and advocate, incorporating trauma-informed approaches into your work can be transformational for both yourself and those that you serve.

This is hard work, but you don’t have to do it alone.

What to Expect

In this self-paced course, we begin by unpacking our Five Core Convictions – the foundation for our work – that support trauma-responsive practices.

Next, we build upon four protective factors that mitigate toxic stress while developing our own resilience and post-traumatic growth.

Finally, we will establish ways to navigate the nervous systems of ourselves and others through grounding practices and a holistic understanding of three nervous system states.

These offerings equip teams with the lens needed to utilize our
Mind Mapping(TM) process for creative, compassionate problem solving.

How it Works

Housed on Sutra, the seven-week course is broken down into seven modules. Each module consists of engaging video lessons supported by additional readings, downloadable resources, quiz questions and reflection prompts to deepen your learning.

While the recommended timeframe for course completion is seven weeks, the content will continue to be readily available, allowing you to complete the course at your own pace.

Tried and True Resources: Access to research-based content designed by Sarah Buffie, MSW, LSW.

Downloadable Materials: Includes over 20 PDF’s that support your continued practice and education.

Reflection and Grounding: Guided reflection prompts and grounding exercises to use at home or on the job.
